Sophisticated Woman’s annual Hats Off event was Friday, March 23, at Tchefuncta Country Club in Covington. This exciting day of inspiration, food, fun—and surprises—honored the Enterprising Women (and Man) of 2011, and we announced the 2011 Enterprising Woman of the Year.

This year’s beneficiary is HOYST (Homeless Outreach for Youth in St. Tammany), whose mission is "to decrease homelessness among youth in our community by providing shelter and transitional housing as well as supportive services that will lead to self-sufficiency and stable living conditions.”

Our keynote speaker, star Chef Susan Spicer, epitomizes the spirit of both a sophisticated and an enterprising woman. Inducted into the James Beard Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America in 2010, Susan is also author of Crescent City Cooking: Unforgettable Recipes from Susan Spicer’s New Orleans.
