Salmen High School
A humanitarian, who is exceptional in academics, service-oriented and a leader—this is how people who know Lewis Jones describe him. This Salmen High School (SHS) senior has devoted his high school career to active involvement in school clubs, stellar academic performance, and service to his fellow students. He was named the 2011-2012 secretary of the SHS Interact Club, an organization whose sole mission is service to the community on a local, national and international level. He has won numerous academic awards and recently he earned the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award).
Since age three Lewis has suffered hearing loss in one ear, and his mother, who is raising him alone, could not afford his hearing aide until Lewis reached the sixth grade. Despite this circumstance, Lewis has maintained a 4.4 GPA throughout his high school career. His goal is to attend college to become a geochemist, to prevent the spread of pollution before it begins.
Congratulations to Lewis, our March 2012 Charter Business HERO award winner.
