Who can believe May is already upon us? 2012 began in an unusual way for the gardener. Spring had sprung before winter ever really arrived and lots of our garden favorites never took their winter holiday. Gardens are really green and our usual May chores are being replaced by what seem like summer tasks. Before any great opportunities to get ready for the long hot summer pass us by, let’s do a quick review of what we must do now.
It seems that the whole world is confused. People all over the world are fighting—unable to come to suitable, peaceful agreements, unable to compromise and spring our country into success. Shockingly, even our old friend Mother Nature is trying to fool us into believing that spring is here. But remember, even with all the budding, flowering trees and shrubs, only when the true harbinger of spring (the pecan trees) put out their leaves can we be certain that spring has sprung!
