Nearly a dozen bluegrass and folk musicians from across the Northshore showed up for Live Music Night, a weekly open jam session held every Friday night at Cafe Madisonville.




During the Armed Forces Day Event at the National World War II Museum, Captain Troy Wayne Brackett was honored by Mayor Mitch Landrieu with the 2010 Mayor’s Military Advisory Committee Community Service Award on behalf of the Louisiana Army National Guard.


The New Orleans Polo Club took home the Challenge Cup in this twice-a-year friendly rivalry with the Point Clear Polo Club from Fairhope, Alabama. The 5th Annual Polo “Friendraiser” benefited the Land Trust for Southeast Louisiana.

The St. Tammany Hospital Foundation (STHF) recently honored its most generous donors of 2009 at its Annual Leadership Recognition Celebration at Tchefuncta Country Club in Covington.

Peony, a resident cat of the St. Tammany Humane Society will now be the primary, on-site blood donor for the staff at Louisiana Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center. After her year of service, Peony will be then put up for adoption.

The 2010 Special Olympics Louisiana State Summer Games were held at Southeastern Louisiana University. The games included competitions in Athletics (track and field), Bocce, Power Lifting, Volleyball, and Soccer Skills. Over 700 athletes from across Louisiana competed.
